Mounties moving on

PHILIPSBURG — The Philipsburg-Osceola baseball team advanced to the second round of the PIAA Class 3A playoffs Monday afternoon, thanks to a 4-3 win over Avonworth in eight innings.

Sam McDonald won it for the Mounties with an RBI single, his first hit of the game.

Paker Lamb had two hits for the Mounties, who trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh before tying the game up in the bottom of the frame. Gavin Emigh worked four innings in relief to get the win. The Mounties will play Punxsutawneyon Thursday in the quarterfinals.
